6 Ways To Fight The Post-Vacation Blues

1. Unpack, clean and refresh your home

There is nothing like a clean, organised home to help you feel calm and settled. Open all windows and fold back your bed sheets – or change them if you didn’t do so before going away.
Try to unpack right away, put things in the wash or hang them right up. It is so nice to be able to put away the suitcase and use your wardrobe like normal.
The final touch is always fresh flowers, it feels like there is life back in the house again.
2. Tackle your inbox

Take a deep breath and arrange the messages into folders based on urgency, and give yourself a couple of days to get back up to speed. Give yourself a realistic timeline in regards to email catch-up and try to stick to it so you don’t feel like you’re drowning in virtual responsibility. You’ve got this.
3. Get your body moving

Pick your favorite form of joyful movement and get to it. A yoga sequence to stretch your muscles will do amazing things for your physical and mental state. Going for a jog, gym, or even simply walking around the block if it’s nice out are all incredible options, too. Soon, you’ll feel ready to overcome all that you have to take on with the help of some awesome feel-good endorphins flowing through your body.
4. Prioritize sleep

Too often, sleep isn’t taken into consideration, but getting the proper amount of shut-eye can be the “magical” cure to a lot of things in life. Upon returning from vacation, make sure you prioritize sleep. If you don’t, you might start criticizing everything else in your life for your internal chaos, when really all you need is a blissful night of sleep.
5. If you're feeling down, embrace it

Make sure to remind yourself that it’s normal to fall into a change of speed, and that it’ll pass in a few days. All things in life are temporary, so personally, I’m making sure to stay consistent with my meditation practice helps me ride the waves of change post-vaca - maybe it’ll help you, too.
6. Set new intentions

Instead of be anxious about the end of summer, embrace it as an opportunity to make a fresh start. Before jumping back into work, take a pause and reflect on the meaningful experiences you had during the holiday. By bringing little pieces of your vacation back home, you will keep the magic of the trip alive.
